The 'Esso Beach' location on Hayling Island is an East facing beach situated in Langstone Harbour, about 1 mile on to Hayling Island from the mainland. A high tide only venue, since as the tide decreases the once excellent flat water windsurfing location becomes mud. The plus side is there is no shore break here and is consequently an excellent location for beginners and intermediates.

Features

One of the very few spots in the area that works in a Northerly Wind. It is also a great place to get on the water away from the stresses of the Hayling Island groynes and shorebreak.

Considerations

There is a shingle bank someway offshore, that rapidly becomes dry as the tide decreases so be aware with this, so as not to catch your fin. Check the Google Maps view to see where it is.

Directions to Hayling Island, Esso Garage

Follow the A27 and take the A3023 turn off to Hayling Island. Once you are over the bridge that spans Langstone Harbour, continue for about another mile and on the right hand side of the road, there is an Esso station. Just next to this is a road that leads on to the beach front car park. Be careful not to miss the turning.
