Exmouth Estuary ( Duckpond ) Gallery
Exmouth river mouth in the Exe Estuary, also known as the Duckpond by the locals, is a kitesurfing and windsurfing playground. It provides flat to choppy water and in most cases you will always be within your depth so it is also a great place to learn and improve. Tide times are important here: it is best at high tide but really only sailable a couple of hours either side of high. Of course kitesurfing allows a wider window of time due to the shorter fin size.
Plenty of ammenities around Exmouth, including plenty of parking on the waterfront.
Features
The water is shallow and it is possible to windsurf in any wind direction. It is a great place for freestyle and is one of the few places to sail in Northerlies.
Considerations
Not a lot, it is a safe place to sail. Watch out when the tide goes out though, you don't want to find yourself stranded or even hit a sandbar - great for your chums but not so good for you...
