Paignton, in South Devon lies to the south of Torquay and is easily reached from Exeter. Sheltered by Berry head and the Dartmouth penisular, Paignton will always be flat in SW winds and swells. For waves in these conditions you are better off, going to Bigbury.

Features

What Paignton really needs is a strong Easterly wind and the short period groundswell that might come with it, that is if you are looking for waves. There are strong currents and some rips in these conditions, but any advanced windsurfer should be able to cope with this.

Considerations

The main consideration is the current round the pier, especially if the tide is not favourable.

Directions to Paignton
