Praa Sands Gallery

Praa Sands stands out as an exceptional wavesailing location but perhaps one that is very hard to get right. On all but the smallest swells it should be considered a very advanced wave due to the shallow impact area and the powerful waves. Because of this caution should be entertained on bigger swells.

For windsurfing, wave riding is best in east or south east winds for port tack riding and north west and west-north west for starboard tack riding.

A great place for surfing as well, and generally hanging out. There is a nice camping area above the beach that works very nicely as a base for barbecues and after session chill outs.

Features

Check this beach out if the wind direction is E/SE direction for port tack riding or W/WNW for starboard tack. Even in small swells that don't seem to break anywhere else the banks can kick up a wave.

Considerations

Praa Sands experiences strong currents and is a powerful breaking wave.
