Newgale Gallery
Westerly facing Newgale catches a plentiful amount of swell and is one of the best wave-sailing locations in the area. It also benefits from an excellent boost to wind speed in northerlies and south easterlies. It is a beautiful sandy beach with a high tide area steep pebble bank. Also a very family friendly beach to hang out at with pub, cafe, plenty of parking and cliff walks.
Directions to look out for are Northerlies, Southerlies and South Easterlies. South-east winds experiences a funneling effect from the nearby hills. North-north-west to north-east also experience acceleration. Actual wind speeds in these directions are usually slightly above forecasted wind speeds.
Best tide state is low to mid tide.
Features
Newgale has an excellent wind advantage in wind directions NE, NNE, N and SSE winds due to venturi effects from the hills surrounding the beach. Enough to boost a light F3 up to a F4.
Considerations
The swell hear can get sizeable. Avoid high tide when a swell is running due to a nasty shorebreak that hits a steep pebble bank.
