Blyth is both a good surfing and windsurfing location that offers great wave-sailing at all tide levels. The best launch area is south of the marina and the top end of the beach. Best directions here are S/ SW winds, the keep your eye out along with cross shore northerlies for port tack action.
Features
The breakwaters surrounding the river mouth offer some degree of sheltering from waves and cross-chop. Fot this reason, during calm periods this provides good shelter for beginners and intermediates.
Considerations
Take care with the groynes and rips at high tide.
