South Shields Gallery
Mainly a windsurfing and kitesurfing location, Southshields is a shallow shelving sandy bay. Best wind direction here is SE since it takes you away from Trow rocks pushing you more towards the harbour area. During periods of persistent strong northerlies, the tide can run quite strong, north to south but so long as you stay far enough upwind this shouldn't be an issue

Also possible to windsurf in the harbour, so check the tide times on the forecasting page for times of slack water. At these times it would be a good option for learning.
