Good family inland venue with safety facilities and a club house. Based in the depths of suffolk this inland venue is a great place to progress or even get into the sport of windsurfing. There is a spacious green rigging area and good parking. Campervans are welcomed and add to the feel of a good watersports day out. To sail at the club you can purchase day membership from the club house or even buy a season ticket if you are going to be a regular.

The type of conditions you can expect are typical of a medium sized reservior, flat water and fairly gusty, but with plenty of areas to explore and get to grips with advancing through windsurfing.

Features

To add to the atmosphere of the place there is a track all the way round the lake, you can walk, run or even hire one of the mountain bikes for the ride. If it is too windy at the local coastal windsurfing spots, then many make there way over here.

Considerations

No hazards as such, although the aeratiing system may put a few off (expect big bubbles in two parts of the lakes). In fishing season you have to stay 20 minutes from the other shorel lines.

Directions to Alton Water

Take the A12 into suffolk and then proceed to get fairly lost. Otherwise follow the big salty map. The centre is clearly signposted, although there are a myriad of ways to get to that point, that is more confusing to even think about it.
